Free eye exams for service dogs

Eye Care for Animals in Tustin is offering free eye exams for service dogs during the month of May.
The ophthalmology specialists offer the screening to dogs certified as service dogs or enrolled in training to become service dogs.
Such dogs include guide dogs that help blind people, hearing-assistance dogs, detection dogs, police dogs, search and rescue dogs, therapy dogs and more.
The screenings, which include identifying problems such as early cataracts, cloudy corneas, retinal disease and more, help these canines continue to provide their valuable services.
This is the fourth year the clinic, at 3025 Edinger Ave., has participated in the event.
Dogs must be registered on the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists'' website (www.acvoeyeexam.org) before appointments can be made.
